The creative process can spring from many influences and directions. The Write Stuff, is a concert program written by Heidi Joyce and Randall Fleischer that explores composers’ creative influences and inspirations and draws parallels between the structure of great stories and the structure of great music.
The Write Stuff looks at how the physical world – the sound of a bumblebee, a summer storm, a machine – influences and inspires musical composition. The program delves into the long and significant connection between great literature and great music, and how both elements have inspired each other for centuries. The Write Stuff examines what makes a great story or a great piece of music work. The parallels are indeed significant. With a focus on the hero’s journey, that classic template that forms the basis for so many great stories, parallels are drawn between famous stories from pop culture and famous works of symphonic and pop music.

All reservations are processed in the order they are received.

Transportation:
Anchorage Schools: The Anchorage Symphony Orchestra will make the arrangements for your bus transportation and will pay for the bus to transport your students within Anchorage.
MatSu Valley Schools: Please contact Mat-Su Borough School District Student Transportation Services to arrange for busing. The Anchorage Symphony will pay for 1/2 of the busing cots.
Peninsula & Home Schools: You will need to make your own transportation arrangements.

If applicable - Approximately one week before the concert, we will email you a bus schedule. The cost for the bus to transport your class to the concert is over $200. We like each bus to be full. Buses seat approximately 65 people, so please sign up with another teacher and help fill the bus. The bus company requires several days notice to schedule or cancel buses.  Classes canceling after the deadline given in your confirmation may be responsible for paying for the bus.

Cancellations and Changes: As we allow you to “pay at the door,” we ask that you return the courtesy by informing us of any changes in your attendance as soon as you can. This early communication may allow other classes to attend the concert.
