With wit and enthusiasm, Maestro Randall Craig Fleischer and the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra present Symphony Under Construction. This Young People’s Concert explores elements of musical composition through performances of Tchaikovsky, Strauss and other masters, including a finale surprisingly written by the audience during the concert!  Creative, humorous and educational, Symphony Under Construction will delight and inspire students with multi-media technologies and audience participation to bringing the students’ new work to life.

All reservations are processed in the order they are received.
These concerts sell out quickly!

Cost: The cost is $5 per student/teacher/adult chaperone attending.

Payment: Credit card payments can be made up to two days prior to the concert (ASO Office - 274-8668). Credit cards will not be accepted at the door. Payment is due in full when you arrive at the theatre. Please have your payment ready, in one envelope, when you arrive. One large check is preferred over small bills.

Please include on the envelope:
- teacher name
- school name
- number of people attending

Transportation: The Anchorage Symphony Orchestra will make the arrangements for your bus transportation and will pay for all or half of the bus to transport your students to the concert, depending on if your school is located in Anchorage City Limits or MatSu School District. Approximately one week before the concert, we will email you a bus schedule. The cost for the bus to transport your class to the concert is over $200. We like each bus to be full. Buses seat approximately 70 people, so please sign up with another teacher and help fill the bus. The bus company requires several days notice to schedule or cancel buses.

Classes canceling after October 25th may be responsible for paying for the bus .

Cancellations and Changes:
As we allow you to “pay at the door,” we ask that you return the courtesy by informing us of any changes in your attendance as soon as you can. This early communication may allow other classes to attend the concert.

Lesson Plans for YPC:Teacher packets and supplemental lesson plans about Symphony Under Construction Young People’s Concert are developed, carefully adhering to National and ASD standards and benchmarks. Packets will be available for all classroom and classroom music teachers. Packets include research on composers, active listening guide, musical word find, crossword puzzle, concert manners sheet and suggested activities for your students. Teacher packets can be accessed starting in September on the Anchorage Symphony website (AnchorageSymphony.org).
